The Working Principle of Platinum Rhodium Disposable Thermocouple

Platinum rhodium Disposable Thermocouple is noble metal thermocouple. The thermocouple wire diameter is 0.5mm, and the allowable deviation is -0.015mm. The cathode (BP) on behalf of the chemical composition of platinum rhodium alloy, which contains 30% rhodium, platinum 70%. The anode (BN) for the platinum rhodium alloy, rhodium is 6%. it is commonly known as the double platinum rhodium thermocouple. The maximum temperature of the thermocouple is 1600 DEG C, and the maximum temperature is about 1800 DEG C.

Advantages: the double platinum rhodium disposable thermocouple in the thermocouple series has the advantages of highest accuracy, good stability, wide temperature zone, long service life and high temperature limit. Suitable for not only oxidizing and inert atmospheres, but also for short-term use in vacuum, but not for reductive atmospheres or in metallic or nonmetallic vapor atmospheres. An obvious advantage of the B type thermocouple is the need not to compensate the compensation wire, because the thermoelectromotive force in the 0~50 DEG C range is less than 3 μV.

Disadvantages: the double platinum rhodium disposable thermocouple deficiency is the thermoelectromotive force. The thermoelectric power is small, sensitive reading low, the decrease of mechanical strength under high temperature, very sensitive to pollution. Precious metal materials are expensive, so it is a larger one-time investment.

The working principle of disposable thermocouple is thermocouple is composed of two different components of the grounding conductor ends of synthetic circuit. When the two junction temperature at the same time, it will produce thermal current in the loop. If there is a temperature difference between the working end of the thermocouple and the reference terminal, the display instrument will indicate the temperature corresponding to the thermoelectric potential generated by the thermocouple.

Thermocouple choices: measurement of the normal temperature at 1000~1300 DEG C to recommend the use of industrial single use thermocouplesingle thermocouple (RH 10- platinum); measuring the normal temperature at 1200~1600 DEG C to recommend the use of thermocouple (30- RH Pt Rh 6), so in the temperature range used to ensure the service life of thermocouple.
